The Perfect Breakfast – A Delicious, Nutritious, Chocolately Bowl of Goodness!
Have you tried a smoothie bowl yet?
I have had 1-2 green smoothies every day for years now. I still love them. I do, but I am someone who loves change and likes to try different things.
So having a smoothie in a bowl and still getting all the fantastic nutrients but in a slightly different form – one I can really sink my teeth into – is fantastic!!
There are endless ways and recipes for these – just like there are endless smoothie recipes.
So this is just 1 and I highly encourage you experiment and create your own.
I still have green smoothies but when I make a smoothie bowl I tend to make it more like a pudding – and I love chocolate!
If you look for recipes you will usually find ones containing all fruit.
I highly encourage you to keep them more like you would a green smoothie. Include fresh greens and/or super foods and super powders to them. This way it is more of a balance and instead of spiking your blog sugar levels – you are balancing them – SO IMPORTANT!!
By adding fresh greens, super powders that have protein, fibre, a ton of minerals and essential fatty acids, chia gel (protein, essential fatty acids, calcium, fibre), hemp seeds, coconut and nuts and seeds – to name of few things you can add.

Below the video is the recipe along with health benefits of the Super Powder “Kick Start” (by Harmonic Arts) that I used in the bowl (you can use a mixed green powder or another super powder).
Chocolate Blueberry Smoothie Bowl Recipe
- 1/2 C frozen blueberries
- 3/4 C almond milk
- 2 Tbsp chia gel
- 3 chunks frozen banana
- 4-5 chunks frozen mango (you can use just banana in this – would be better)
- 2 soaked medjool dates (or another sweetener)
- 1/2 Tbsp “Kick Start” super powder (can sub a mixed green powder or another super powder)
- 1 Tbsp Cacao Powder (raw chocolate powder)
– In a blender (I used nutribullet) add the fruit and nut milk and blend
– Add the other ingredients and blend until mixed (do not over process)
Add the “smoothie” to a bowl and add toppings of your choice
Some suggested toppings are: chopped bananas, coconut flakes, pumpkin seeds, granola, muesli, oats
“KICK START” SUPER POWDER
Ingredients in it:
– Chaga mushroom
– Ramon Nut
– Yerba Mate
– Roasted Dandelion
Health Benefits of the Ingredients listed:
CHAGA MUSHROOM – Immune boosting, supports endocrine system, helps cope with stress, immune modulating (good for auto-immune disease), helps flight the flue, high in antioxidants, B vitamins, Vit D, calcium, potassium, magnesium, zinc and iron
RAMON NUT – use in coffee subsitutes, fiber, calcium, potassium, folate, iron, zinc, protein
YERBA MATE (often see this as a tea) – mild stimulant, contains the following nutrients: vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamins B1, B2, B3, and B5, vitamin E, calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, sodium, sulfur, zinc
SARSAPARILLA – medicinal properties, decrease inflammation, eases pain, has been used to treat leprosy, helps heal open wounds
GUANANA – weight loss, to enhance athletic performance, as a stimulant, and to reduce mental and physical fatigue
ROASTED DANDELION – Calcium, Vit K, helps cleanse the liver, high in antioxidants, Vit A.
The Raw Cacao Powder also is something that is extremely healthy!
Yes, super, healthy chocolate!
It is higher in antioxidants than green tea or blueberries. It has an extremely high amount of magnesium! It has no fat and very few calories – but of course we usually add a sweetener and a bit of a fat to it. But in this smoothie bowl, there is very, very little fat.
I cannot stress how important it is to eat and drink healthy in the morning.
It is how you set the day.
Drinking and eating healthy foods (the right ones) and drinks in the morning is about feeding and fuelling your brain and every single cell in your body.
It helps give you energy as well as sustained energy throughout the day.
It helps decrease cravings and balances your blood sugar levels.
Starting your day right can change everything!!
