Chickpea Avocado Hummus & What it really takes to….

Chickpea Avocado Hummus – a twist on Hummus and

I saw a video on FB for this and last night I was hungry so I had the ingredients and decided to make MY OWN version of this. In the FB video – it was pretty plain…. I knew I could make it better and I believe I DID!

The recipe is below.

ALSO in this post I have a VIDEO about what it takes in midlife to lose the weight and feel better.

So many changes going on in your body, what is the right thing to do? What can you do? How can you feel better? How can you begin to lose the weight? Why are you having a hard time losing the weight?

So many things to consider and I touch on these in this video and I also tell you a bit about what I did.

It is not something you can do overnight.

But if you do not start – YIKES – what will your future look like?

What will your health be like?

How will you feel?

How will you LIVE your life?

I believe that mid life (over 45 – I know, brutal to think of that as mid-life but it is) is a crucial time to focus on health.

How many people do you know that have had cancer and/or have cancer?

A lot right?

What are their ages?

Think about women who get breast cancer – most are middle age!

I don't mean to scare you….

BUT…… are you doing what you can to be healthy?

If you put your health first, you then can KNOW that you are doing all you can to prevent illness & disease.

And…. the benefit of doing that is that you WILL feel so much better!

I talk a lot about weight loss but it is not just about losing weight – It is about YOUR HEALTH!

(Recipe below video)

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 can organic chickpeas (drain and rinse)
  • 1/2 to 1 clove of garlic (depends on how much garlic you like and size of clove)
  • 1/4 – 1/2 tsp of cumin (go to your taste, start with less and then add more to taste)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 3 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil (optional – I did not add any and it was great without it)
  • Sriracha sauce (to taste, start with less and then add to taste – I stirred this in after the hummus was blended)
  • 1 C water (if using a Vitamix to blend, you do not need for food processor)

My food processor has been sent back to Nanaimo so I only had my Vitamix to use. It worked but I did have to add the water in it but you do not have to when using a food processor.

Cut avocado and scoop out the flesh. Place that in food processor along with the other ingredients.

Process, stirring often and scrapping sides, until mixture is creamy.

Tasting as you do this and then adjusting ingredients to your taste.

I stirred in the Sriracha sauce after I blended the hummus – just found it easier that way to control how much I was using. I added a little at a time until the taste was perfect for me.
